The craft of writing instructions that get reliable results from an AI — being specific, giving examples, saying what to avoid. Less mysterious than it sounds, and mostly the same skill as briefing a new colleague well.
Synthetic Content
Text, images or video produced by AI. Not penalised for being synthetic, but it is judged by the same standard as anything else — and thin AI-written pages fail that standard easily.
Speech Recognition
Turning spoken words into text. It underpins voice search, dictation and call transcription, and it now handles accents and background noise far better than it used to.
Well-Known URI
A standard location, always under /.well-known/, where machines look for information about a site — security contacts, API catalogues, agent details. Putting files there means they can be found without being linked.
Product Schema
Markup for an item you sell: name, price, currency, availability, condition. Without it an assistant reading your shop has to guess the price from the page, and sometimes guesses wrong.
Crawl Budget
The rough limit on how much of your site a crawler will fetch in a visit. Slow pages and endless near-duplicate URLs spend it on nothing, so the pages that matter get visited less often.
